Facebook Executives teased a new VR prototype by sharing photos of themselves wearing the headsets and linking concepts like the metaverse and "Retina Resolution".
This is noteworthy because recent advancements in the Graphics Processing Unit or GPU is what makes modern VR possible.
So a headset that offers lifelike resolution and reasonable battery power could be the missing piece for true market adoption that's eluded manufacturers up to now.

Magic Leap, the augmented reality company that closed its doors for selling only 6,000 units of their first headset, is getting a reset.
Thanks to a half a billion in new funding, and new leadership from Microsoft former executive Peggy Johnson, the new AR headset (Magic Leap 2) hopes to offer improved visual fidelity for commercial applications as an all-day, everyday wearing device.
